Popis: This report is to show that we have completed our Phase 2 data recovery investigations at five archaeological sites along the Slate Creek Section of SR 188, and to recommend that archaeological clearance be granted for the construction of this section of the road. The field work began on June 13 and terminated on July 28; a total of approximately 390 person days was expended. The Phase 2 data recovery accomplished at the Slate Creek Section sites was successful in producing the kinds of data identified as critical in the Phase 1 data recovery report and Phase 2 data recovery research design (Huckell and Vint 1994). This statement certainly is more applicable to the Archaic (AZ U:3:286/1352) and Hohokam (AZ U:3:224/2064) sites than it is to the Salado sites (AZ U:3:285/1350, AZ U:3:287/1353, and AZ U:3:288/1354), primarily due to the limited data sets obtained from the latter. The limited data sets for the Classic period sites are a product of the erosion and probably seasonal nature of occupation at AZ U:3:285/1350 and AZ U:3:287/1353, and the vandalism and limited scope of work at AZ U:3:288/1354. It is anticipated that all of the topics of interest prioritized in the research design can be approached in at least limited fashion with the recovered data.
