Popis: | Some temperature field results are reported of the thermocapillary flow experiments conducted on board the Space Shuttle. In the experiments oscillatory thermocapillary flows were investigated in cylindrical containers filled with silicone oil. Three different container diameters and two types of heating mode were used to study their effects on the oscillation phenomenon. An infrared imaging system recorded the oil surface temperature. A movable thermistor probe measured the fluid temperature. Numerical analysis was also performed to supplement the experiments. The results from those measurements and the analysis are presented and discussed herein. |
