A review of the present state and future prospects of the Soviet inter-university project of devising a physical-geographic regionalization of the country for agricultural purposes. The author urges improvements of methodology along two lines:(l) greater use of quantitative indicators to eliminate subjective judgments and (2) improvement of methods for assessing territories in terms of their economic usefulness. A previous review paper on this subject appeared in Soviet Geography, November 1960 and February 1963. |
