Popis: Performance quantities, especially the efficiency, of individual technical products that are produced in series show some scatter around the respective mean values of the size they belong to. The scatter of performance quantities is quantified by performance tolerances. They result from geometrical manufacturing tolerances and variations of material properties. For sufficiently large numbers of the series, the scatter obeys Gaussian distributions, and the performance tolerances are related to the corresponding standard deviation. In respective standards, information is given concerning allowable performance tolerances or consequences for the efficiency-related classification/assessment. A special aspect of performance tolerances is the probability of mean values declared by manufacturers to be approved in the frame of market surveillance.
