Delayed conferencing is a way to conduct people-to-people communication based on multimedia mail systems. An active multimedia system for delayed conferencing uses the concept of active media by enclosing active knowledge in messages. Messages having active knowledge will automatically react to certain events to perform operations for generating a timely response and improving operational efficiency. Moreover, each message also possesses a hypergraph structure for organizing its contents. In this paper, an active multimedia system is presented to illustrate its usefulness in delayed conferencing. The knowledge representation and the execution model are described for generating and executing active knowledge. Finally, we discuss the current approach and future work. |
