Popis: Normal and oblique interaction between steel isotropic elongated projectiles of cylindrical shape and an orthotropic composite plate is studied in the impact velocity range of up to 2000 m/s. The problem is solved numerically by finite-element method in three-dimensional statement with the use of the software package designed by the authors. The projectile material behavior is described by an elasto-plastic model, whereas the obstacle material behavior is described by an elasto-brittle model that accounts anisotropy of its elastic and strength properties. The influence of a nutation angle on the plate fracture and the projectile behavior during penetration is studied.
