The Fifth International Congress of the Federation was held in Paris from May 25 to 28, 1992 at the Palais des Congrbs. The meeting which coincided with the end of the first 25 years of life of the Federation was hosted by the French Society under the Chairmanship of Dr. Raoul Tubiana. As we had anticipated, it was run in a meticulous way, at a splendid venue. A scientific programme covering a wide range of topics of the highest merit had been arranged by the Local Committee and was greatly appreciated by all. The social events had been arranged with equal care and attention to detail. A memorable gala evening was held at the Chateau de Chantilly. The highlight of the evening was the equestrian show before dinner. This was a magical show and made the evening unforgettable. The International Federation and the large group of its members that attended this memorable meeting were greatly indebted to the French Society for the excellent programme. Many of the visitors who attended the meeting in Paris continued on the Post-Congress tours to Venice, Vienna, and Budapest. Both meetings had been very well organized and were made particularly enjoyable by the warm welcome we received from the local organizing societies. As chairman of the nominating committee, I can report the nomination of Giorgio Brunelli (Italy) for PresidentElect and Guy Foucher (France) for Secretary GeneralElect. The Executive Committee and Council also recommended a list of Pioneers in Hand Surgery to be recognized at the Sixth Congress of the IFSSH to be held in Helsinki Douglas W. Lamb |
