Popis: Publisher Summary This chapter presents preliminary studies that compare the in vivo suppressive effects of crude dialyzable extracts (DLE), inducer factor depleted DLE, and inducer and suppressor factor depleted (sham) DLE with those of immunoadsorbant purified inducer and suppressor factors. Pooled human DLE obtained from D.Tox-immune individuals was further fractionated into the following fractions: (1) inducer depleted, (2) inducer and suppressor depleted, (3) purified inducer, and (4) purified suppressor fractions. These preparations are tested for suppressor activity, both early and prolonged. No suppressor activity was detectable in the purified inducer or in the inducer/suppressor depleted DLE. Inducer depleted DLE demonstrated both early and prolonged suppressor activity as did the purified suppressor fraction, although the potency of the latter appears to be diminished. Nevertheless, the results suggest that the suppressor activity detected in the in vitro LMI assay has potent in vivo activity.
