Popis: | Serogroup- and seroiype-specific monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) towards Pseudomonas syringae lipopoiysacchartde (LPS) O-polysaccharides (OPS) (=O-chains) with elucidated structure of O-repeats, as we!i as core-specific MAbs, were generated and partially characterized. Using OPS-specific MAbs, 385 strains of P. Syringae representing 21 pathovars were classified into 15 serotypes within serogroups 01-07. By this classification scheme most of the P. syringae pathovars showed serologicai homogeneity. By combining the core- and OPS-specific MAbs, most P. syringae strains couid be seroiogically differentiated from other species of bacteria. The serological formulas for serogroups and for individual strains within serogroups were established which correlated with the chemical structure of O-repeats and may form the base for a novel classification scheme of P. syringae. Main areas for implication of the MAbs are suggested. |
