Popis: Medicinal plants have curative properties due to the presence of various complex chemical substances of different compositions, which are found as secondary plant metabolites in one or more parts of these plants. Khaya senegalensis (Desr) A Juss is a popular medicinal plant among the Nupes and Yorubas in Nigeria. It belongs to the family Meliaceae (mahogany) and has been reported by several works for its usefulness in the treatment of various diseases. The plant has been studied for its various pharmacological activities like antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antiprotozoal, anticancer, hypoglycemic, and antiparasitic properties. A scrutiny of the literature reveals some notable pharmacological activities of the plant. The phytochemistry and pharmacology of this plant necessitate a comprehensive review of its prospects as an important therapeutic agent for the management of numerous diseases commonly affecting humans. The present review provides a detailed report of the phytochemical, pharmacological, and toxicological properties carried out on this plant and also throws light on its therapeutic prospects
