A silicon solar cell requires only several ten micrometers of silicon in order to absorb sunlight efficiently. Therefore, we have developed a process that allows for the continuous deposition of silicon on reorganized porous silicon substrates from a tin solution by steady-state liquid phase epitaxy. The grown epilayer can be detached from the silicon substrate with the intention of processing the epilayer into a solar cell, while reusing the substrate multiple times for a porosification and reorganization process and subsequent epitaxy. We will present cross section scanning electron microscope (SEM) images showing successful growth results of detachable layers.
