Popis: | Uninterrupted supply of electricity and heat is essential for human activities, especially, in remote regions with extremely cold climate such as Kazakhstan. Boilers underperformance and unexpected shut-down can lead to economic losses and damage to major equipment. For this reason, the reliability of the equipment must be taken into account for the optimal energy dispatch plans. Hence, this work proposes a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model for the optimal electrical and thermal dispatch, incorporating failure rates of the key equipment and applied to a major Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant in Karaganda. The proposed model allows improving the energy efficiency of the CHP operations while preserving system resilience. Historical data have been used to characterise the operating windows and steam consumption for electrical and thermal dispatch. The results of the presented case study demonstrate that the proposed mathematical formulation is an effective tool to optimally manage the annual energy and maintenance plans in a systematic way, in contrast to the empirical approaches followed currently by the industry. |
