Production of 50 keV intense heavy ion beams

Popis:	A compact, low emittance duo plasmatron ion source and an extraction system have been designed and built, primarily as an injector to a 2 MV Tandem Van de Graaff accelerator being built at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay. With this system we have extracted 5 mA N + , 3 mA of Ar + beams and 200 A of N − beam. The emittance and brightness for the source are measured and are 3.66×10 −2 mm-mrad and 10 10 mA/cm 2 - rad 2 respectively.
