Popis: | The electron velocity distribution function has been measured using a flat one-sided probe at the axis of a plasma gap in a helium discharge positive column for the pressure range 0.2-1.0 Torr and discharge currents 50-500 mA. Moments of the electron velocity distribution function and hence the electron convective velocity for different discharge regimes are determined. The convective velocity is shown to be determined according to discharge conditions either by a pair of elastic-atom collisions or by collective processes of electron collisions. |
