Moment gradient modifier of continuously braced nonuniform beams with top flange loading

Popis: The elastic flexural-torsional buckling behavior of beams with nonuniform members is investigated by using finite-element analysis. From the investigation of the finite-element analysis, new moment gradient modifier for calculating the flexural-tors ional buckling moment resistances of nonuniform I-section beams with stepped member changes and with continuous lateral bracing subjected to top flange loading and negative end moments are developed. The new equations presented in this study can be used with calculation procedure for obtaining flexural-torsional buckling moment resistance using the new design equation indicates that engineers should easily determine the buckling capacity of nonuniform I-beams.
