Popis:	Aphidicolin, an inhibitor of DNA polymerase oc, was shown to induce a very high frequency of endoreduplication in Chinese hamster V79 cells. The aphidicolin-induced endoreduplication was inhibited when cells were incubated at 41° C. Since it is known that DNA polymerase β is more thermally labile than DNA polymerase oc, the data are consistent with the hypothesis that DNA polymerase β might be responsible for endoreduplication.
