Several concepts of the use of fuzzy techniques in analysis and design of control systems for household appliances manufactured by Gorenje GA, Slovenia are presented in this chapter. In the past decade this industry has experienced an intensive trend towards the reduction of electrical energy consumption and production costs. American and European markets dictate novel standards which are aimed at a decrease in energy consumption. Adaptation of a rigorous standard usually implies increased production costs which in turn lowers the competitive advantages of products. Our goal was therefore to explore the functional behaviour of several household appliance products and analyse the possibility of using intelligent technologies in their design in order to decrease energy consumption. A 4 to 16 percent energy saving was achieved while the production costs remained unaltered. |
