Popis: | Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia and it occurs in strict correlation with the patients' age. AF is a known risk factor of ischemic stroke (ISC), which is considered as one of the major causes of death and disability and pays the essential contribution to health system costs. The paper presents the idea and practical implementation of a long-term non-invasive instrumentation for heart rhythm monitoring and detecting the silent atrial fibrillation events. The developed, at the Institute of Medical Technology and Equipment (ITAM) in Zabrze, a smart wristband monitor was designed in a form resembling a wrist watch, to be the least troublesome and inconvenient to the user. We applied the photoplethysmographic method of heart rate monitoring, with a specialized reflective optical sensor. The monitoring device cooperates with a docking station, whose task is charging battery and ensuring the transmission of the signal data files from the recorder to a data collection server, offering the signal analysis and interpretation. The proposed unique AF monitor in a form of wristband was developed as a part of the wider research project, whose general aim was to recognize the actual frequency of atrial fibrillation in population of people aged 65 years or more, and to determine the independent risk factors for the occurrence of the AF clinical symptomatic and asymptomatic forms. |
