Popis: Films of argon and neon were prepared on a cold substrate by quench-condensation from the gas phase onto a surface acoustic wave device operated at 630 MHz. On annealing above the condensation temperature strong changes of the sound velocity occur indicating structural rearrangement of the film. The annealing procedure has also significant influence on the temperature dependence of the sound velocity and attenuation which is governed by the presence of two-level tunneling states.
