Popis: Knowledge of the global wind field is widely recognized as fundamental to advancing our understanding and prediction of weather and climate. A small-satellite wind lidar development effort has been proposed beginning in FY 1997 with launch in FY 2001. Preliminary analyses indicate that significant science advances can be expected.
