Popis: The hard situation for the University is determined by a complex of factors, and tectonic transformations in the modern society, which can be compared only with the emergence of the human on Earth, are among the major ones. Naturally, permanent internal and external changes in the process of Higher Education have affected professorship in the first place by putting forward the tasks they have never faced before. The changes concern all education parties, their mission, role and function of the teacher themselves, as well as their behaviour patterns and assessment mechanisms for professional performance. Dramatic complexification of academic life, changing of the relationships model within academic community and of its interaction forms with external stakeholders require ultimate transformation of university management structures and principles. Otherwise, most competent and called-for professionals might lose interest in traditional university employment and go for online jobs or consulting. Changes in the system of relationships within academic communities are, to a large extent, determined by generalization of Higher education, which brings to university classes people lacking readiness for teaching methods practiced by a university. It puts teaching staff under stress, makes them work out techniques enabling teachers to cope with students of different education background, motivation and level of preparedness. The paper emphasizes the ultimate requirement for teaching staff to adopt a model of behaviour accepting the culture of change and inevitability of permanent retraining.
