The aim of this book and its constituent chapters is to provide an analysis and review of the work related to the sources and fate of atmospherically deposited nitrogen to natural and semi-natural ecosystems. In doing this, individual contributions have implicitly, or sometimes explicitly, highlighted the deficiencies in our understanding, data and existing monitoring strategies. This contribution provides a synthesis of the chapters and some of the recurrent themes together with consideration of more specific features or implications of this and other contemporary work. Thus the overview provides a basis from which future needs and research priorities can be identified and considered. |
