Violent trauma disproportionately affects adolescent Black and Hispanic men in the United States. The cost of violent trauma encompasses health-related, socioeconomic, and mental health costs. Existing prevention and intervention strategies for adolescent violent trauma include community- based approaches and hospital-based approaches with limited outcome-driven evidence available. Although limited, the evidence for the potential impact of community-based and hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) is promising enough to suggest further implementation and evaluation of violence prevention/intervention programs. |
