Preparation of Malonamide−MCM-41 Materials for the Heterogeneous Extraction of Radionuclides

Popis: | The grafting of malonamide-type molecules onto the surface of mesoporous silicate MCM-41 in a two-step process is demonstrated. This synthesis route yields a large surface concentration of accessible extraction sites as high as 2.5 μmol m-2. The textural properties of the materials are shown to be preserved, as demonstrated by XRD and TEM experiments. These new hybrid materials have been found to separate americium(III) and europium(III) from aqueous solution. The regeneration of these hybrid materials is possible by simply changing the pH conditions. The capabilities of these new materials compare with those of the homogeneous-phase extraction process. |
