Popis: | On continuous casters, the injection of argon at the level of the submerged nozzle may improve the operation of the tundish-mould System and prevent disturbances responsible for slab defects. Tests with a water model have shown that with a precise control of gas injection, the risk of nozzle clogging can be limited and large disturbances of the mould meniscus can be avoided. Observations made with a hot model using liquid Steel confirmed these results. The rules derived from these model tests have been applied successfully to industrial casters. |
