The most common and serious complications of Kawasaki disease are coronary artery abnormalities. In patients with Kawasaki disease, coronary artery involvement is seen in approximately 15–20% of patients [1]. Over the years, the definition of coronary artery involvement has varied but it is now defined by internal lumen diameter, adjusted to body surface area Z-scores [2–4]. Table 8.1 depicts the current classification system for coronary artery abnormalities seen in patients with Kawasaki disease [2–4]. |
