Popis: | The effect of processing parameters on mechanical properties of ST12 friction stir welded (FSW) joints were investigated in the present study. Different welded specimens were produced by employing variable rotational and travel speeds. During experiments and previous literature were determined that temperature has a large effect on the quality of welds. By controlling main parameters, optimal values throughout the experiment were defined and then an accurate 3D finite element simulation of FSW process was conducted with property of ST12 plates on the basis of optimal values. The numerical simulations are based on an Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation that has been implemented in Abaqus software. The experimental and simulation results indicated that rotational and travel speeds have a main role on heat input and overall temperature which influence on the properties of welds. |
