Popis: Two elegant methods for the authentic identification of resonances in scattering theory are introduced using a test imaginary potential. These are substantially shorter and simpler than the S-matrix pole search method or the complex scaling method. The success of these methods termed as Imaginary Test Potential and Imaginary Phase Shift methods is shown by applying it to two different interaction potentials: rectangular potential with pocket and barrier, and Gaussian barrier.
