Compounds of the general composition cis -Cr(CO) 4 (PR 3 )C(OCH 3 )R′ have been synthetised by reacting Cr(CO) 5 C(OCH 3 )R′ (R′CH 3 , C 6 H 5 ) and tertiary phosphines under very mild conditions. The complexes trans -Cr(CO) 4 (PR 3 ) 2 are formed as by-products in these reactions. The spectroscopic data obtained for the complexes are in full agreement with the proposed structures. It appears that the donating properties of the methoxycarbene ligands are of comparable magnitude to those of triaryl phosphines. |
