Popis: | Dose-response data are presented for residues of toxa-phene-DDT (2 + 1) against larvae of the bollworm, Heliothis zea (Boddie), when caged individually on leaves of cotton plants which were sprayed and maintained under greenhouse or field conditions. Mortality observations were made 72 hours after infestation. In the greenhouse, an LD05.; of 14.2 kg/ha (12.7 lb/acre), an LD50 of 0,418 kg/ha (0.373 lb/acre), and a slope of 1.92 were obtained; corresponding values under field conditions were 8.44 kg/ha (7.54 lb/acre), 0.74 kg/ha, (0.660 lb/acre), and a slope of 2.78, respectively. Fiducial limits at the 5% level for the 2 situations overlapped in all 3 cases. The slope of the dose-response curve for field residues, infested 4 days after spraying, was 5.49, whereas LD95 and LD50 values were 9.3 kg/ha (8.3 lb/acre) and 2.7 kg/ha (2.4 lb/acre), respectively. The response of larvae of the bollworm to freshly deposited residues of toxaphene DDT (2 + 1) on cotton differs only slightly between greenhouse and field environments. |
