Popis: The paper presents analysis of Kerr nonlinear impairments present in long haul Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) links and their compensation. A framework is proposed for transmission impairments compensation in optical domain by Optical Back Propagation (OBP) technique. In this technique, effective negative Kerr nonlinear coefficient is achieved using highly nonlinear fibers (HNLFs) and results depict that in nonlinear transmission regime, computational complexity is reduced by implementing OBP compared to digital back propagation (DBP).
