Gain Enhancement of a Biconvex Patch Antenna Using Metallic Rings for 5G Application

Popis: This paper illustrates the modification of conventional circular patch taking the equation of the Rotman lens as the reference resulting a structure equivalent to biconvex lens. The metallic rings having a square shape with one end thicker than the other has been used for gain enhancement. The substrate dimension has been taken as 40mm x 40mm x 1.6mm. FR-4 epoxy has been used as the material for substrate whose relative permittivity is 4.4 over which the proposed antenna has been designed. HFSS software has been used for the simulation and results like S-parameter, VSWR, Antenna Gain, Directivity etc have been analyzed. The proposed antenna has been designed for 28 GHz frequency which is suitable for satellite communication and 5G communication.
