Popis: | Energy consumption is an important performance indexe for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) because the node energy is limited. Clustering structure facilitates data fusion and load balancing, thus reducing energy consumption. We propose an unequal multiple hops clustering algorithm (UMCA) for WSNs. UMCA is a multiple hops clustering algorithm. By changing the probabilities that nodes become cluster heads (CHs), UMCA selects CHs in the nodes with high residual energy. A node that has more around nodes, and is close to around nodes is more likely to become a CH. The possibility to becomes a CH also has relative with the distance to the base station (BS). There are more CHs near the BS, and less CHs away from the BS to balance the load of CHs. UMCA and other related algorithms are compared by simulation. The results show that UMCA can effectively prolong the network lifetime. |
