Popis: The corrosion rate of a metal immersed in an aqueous solution can be measured by applying small perturbing pulses of short duration using a conventional differential pulse polarograph. The method has been demonstrated for zinc corroding in a near neutral aerated solution where the cathodic process is essentially one of diffusion-controlled oxygen reduction. The corrosion currents calculated by the Stern-Geary Method agree within a few percent of the absolute values calculated from weight loss.
