Popis: A procedure is described for developing numerical solutions to the monopole model of the e--H scattering problem. Chebyshev collocation is used to generate an approximate solution and a K-matrix that includes contributions from the continuum states. A variational method is described which is used to calculate a correction to the K-matrix thus computed which is then found to be accurately symmetric. Illustrative calculations of excitation and ionization cross sections are presented.
