Popis: Oxyhydrochlorination (OHC) is the reaction between hydrogen chloride, oxygen and a hydrocarbon to give chlorocarbons and water, viz: To-understand the activity we studied the crystalline phases (by XRD) and surface copper oxidation states by ESCA (XPS). The reversible uptake of oxygen and dissolution (loss of crystallinity) were characteristic of active catalysts and were promoted by potassium. Activity was found for a high Cu +l /Cu +2 surface concentration. This oxidation state ratio was developed by proper catalyst preparation, activation and reactant introduction. Our results imply a specific sequence of reactant interaction during the catalysis.
