Popis: During the 1960s and early 1970s, the theory of natural selection as a mechanism for evolution was at its heyday. Other mechanisms of evolution, such as genetic drift, were regarded as being of minor importance relative to natural selection. Textbooks of the time echoed that sentiment, and genetic drift received little more than a passing mention that it could conceivably be a factor in evolution in populations of extremely small size.
