We present a protocol for calibration of a UV irradiance sensor for use in extended-source UV exposure systems for testing full-size PV modules, taking into account both the spectral and angular responses of the sensor. Module-scale UV exposure systems may have angular distribution of radiation that is much broader than the acceptance angle of typical UV photodiode-based sensors, leading to irradiance measurement error if ignored. However, this fact may not be widely appreciated. We present a method for sensor calibration and illustrate the results for several example sensor designs. Typical values of the angular correction factor range from 1.1 to 1.5, indicating the importance of this parameter. |
