Popis: | Multi-wire proportional chamber (MWPC) based trackers with exceptional operational stability, high efficiency ( > 95 % ) and low power consumption ( 10 W) are applied to the Muographic Observation System (MOS). Since February 2018, the modular MWPC-based MOS (MMOS) is under operation with three trackers with the total sensitive surface of 2 m2 at the Sakurajima volcano in Kyushu, Japan. The structure and operation of MMOS with its performance is reported and its applicability as a remote volcano monitoring system is discussed. |
