The main features of acoustical thermography are considered. A method is proposed for solving the direct problem of acoustical thermography in the one-dimensional case. It gives the potential for theoretical calculations of the acoustobrightness temperature Ta on an object's surface from the distribution of the thermodynamic temperature and the absorption coefficients within the surface. The main formula of acoustothermography is verified for a heated layer and also for an experiment with the same layer, with an acoustic mirror placed behind the layer, for various objects. The value of Ta is found experimentally to be well described by the proposed equation. The temperature deep within the palm of a hand, when immersed in water, is measured by means of acoustothermography as a function of water temperature. |
