Popis: | In the current investigation, combustion and emission characteristics of yttria stabilised zirconia (YSZ) coated diesel engine under the combined effect of steam injection and ferric chloride (FeCl 3 ) as fuel additive were studied. The results indicated that, addition of 0.2 g L −1 FeCl 3 with diesel in YSZ coated engine along with steam injection reduced the emissions such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxide and smoke opacity by 33, 42, 31 and 59%, respectively, as compared to standard diesel mode in uncoated engine. The brake thermal efficiency increased by 2.5% and brake specific fuel consumption reduced by 5.5% indicating the effectiveness of the combined effect of steam injection in the coated engine. |
