Popis: | The relationship between the hydrophilicity of rigid-rod polymers and their fiber structures was investigated. The molecule need to be carefully designed in order to change the fiber properties while maintaining the high-strength and high-modulus properties of the original fibers. The key points were the conjugated molecular structures with straight molecular axes under chemical modifications. In this study, the phenylene rings in poly- p -phenylenebenzobisoxazole were replaced with pyridylene rings. Structural analyses were performed using X-ray scattering methods, and, based on the crystal orientations, the resultant fiber showed high mechanical properties. Effects of molecular hydrophilicity were observed and discussed. The difference between the structural formation processes during coagulation and washing was revealed. |
