The kinetics of the retarded reaction of free radicals with oxygen in a methanol glass

Popis: The ESR method is used to study the oxidation kinetics of the CH 3 , C 2 H 5 , n -C 4 H 9 , i -C 4 H 9 , s -C 4 H 9 , t -C 4 H 9 , n -C 6 H 13 , C 6 H 11 , C 6 H 5 CH 2 , CH 3 C 6 H 4 CH 2 , and C 6 H 5 CH 2 CH 2 radicals in methanol matrix at 87 K. The reaction kinetics are shown to be describable in terms of a time-dependent rate constant k ( t ). The contribution from the matrix relaxation to k ( t ) has been determined. The oxidation rate and the shape of the kinetic curve are independent of the type of the radical. Models interpreting the experimental data are discussed.
