Effect of Ionizing Radiation on Optical Properties of Thallium Halides in the 0.36 to 15 pm Range

Popis: | Absorption coefficients measured at 5 to 6 and 10.6 pm by CO- and CO2-laser calorimetry of TICl, KRS-6 (TICl-TlBr), TlBr, and KRS-5 (TlBr-TlI) crystals are found to increase upon irradiation with 60Co γ-rays. It is found that the radiation resistance of the crystals substantially increases with the halogen number. The dose dependence of γ-induced absorption spectra from 0.36 to 15 μm is measured for TlCl. The results of the measurements are explained by the formation of Tl aggregate centres. [Russian Text Ignored]. |
