Popis: The Influence of Myth on Society Attitude to Disability People in The Short Stories Pelangi dalam Kenangan ABSTRAK Cerpen Pelangi dalam Kenangan memberikan gambaran mental dan fisik penyandang disabilitas yang dilihat melalui kutipan cerpen kemudian dimaknai secara denotasi dan konotasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat makna denotasi dan makna konotasi dari beberapa simbol yang hadir di dalam cerpen ini sebagai respon atau sikap masyarakat terhadap tokoh penyandang disabilitas. Sikap atau respon yang ditunjukkan masyarakat dipengaruhi oleh mitos-mitos yang berkembang di masyarakat terkait para penyandang disabilitas. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori semiotika Roland Barthes dengan metode deskriptif analisis. Sumber data penelitian adalah cerpen Pelangi dalam Kenangan. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah teknik baca, simak, dan catat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terdapat tiga simbol yang menggambarkan fisik dan mental penyandang disabilitas dalam cerpen yaitu simbol “Nyiur”, “Mata Kopong/juling”, dan “Keistimewaan”. Di dalam teks juga digambarkan sikap atau respon masyarakat terhadap tokoh penyandang disabilitas yang dominan memberikan respon negatif. Hanya tokoh Aku yang memberikan respon positif. Suara tokoh Aku mengajak pembaca untuk meningkatkan empati kepada penyandang disabilitas.Kata kunci: Denotasi, Konotasi, Mitos, Respon, DisabilitasABSTRACTThe short story Pelangi in Memories provides a mental and physical picture of persons with disabilities which is seen through the short story quotations which are then interpreted in terms of denotations and connotations. The purpose of this research is to look at the denotative meanings and connotative meanings of several symbols that are present in this short story as a response or attitude of society towards figures with disabilities. The attitude or response shown by the community is influenced by the myths that develop in society regarding persons with disabilities. This research uses Roland Barthes' semiotic theory with a descriptive analysis method. The source of the research data is the short story Pelangi in Memories. Data collection techniques are reading, observing, and note-taking techniques. Based on the results of the study, there are three symbols that describe the physical and mental abilities of persons with disabilities in short stories, namely the symbols "Nyiur", "Eyes Kopong/squint", and "Specialties". The text also describes the attitude or response of the community towards figures with disabilities who predominantly give negative responses. Only my character gave a positive response.
