Popis: | Subcutaneous emphysema after tracheotomy is a well known entity. The 2 cases to be described in this paper may be of some interest, if only to demonstrate the difficulties of a specialist working under unfavorable circumstances. REPORT OF CASES Case1.—A 40 year old woman gave a history of hoarseness which started at 3 years of age and became progressively worse. One year before her case was brought to my attention, dyspnea developed, associated with attacks simulating asthma, which had become worse in the last three months. For two weeks the dyspnea had been so severe that she could not sleep, and she had suffered a heavy loss of weight. Several physicians had treated her for asthma. The first laryngoscopy was done at her home a month prior to my examination of her, and cancer of the larynx was diagnosed. She was sent to Tegucigalpa to consult an internist, Dr. |
