In recent years, computing pre-stack impedances has been proven to be useful for reservoir characterization. It allows indeed to combine strengths of AVO and inversion. But one of the main problems is to evaluate correctly the uncertainties introduced by this process and to use them for calibrating properly reservoir properties. In this paper, we present a method able to identify and qualify these uncertainties with the help of “massive perturbations”. Finally, it allows a reliable calibration of Acoustic and Elastic inverted impedances with various properties like fluid content, porosity, water saturation, or structural variations of the thickness of a pay zone. |
