We present reflections and analyzes related to the implementation of the National Solid Waste Policy in Brazil, ten years after its publication. We list the policy's fundamental precepts, showing how much has been incorporated by the 5,570 Brazilian municipalities, in their management processes and socioenvironmental principles and good practices in the perspective of the proper destination of the waste, extinction of the dumps waste, implantation of sanitary landfills, especially the reduction, reuse and recycling and the implementation of reverse logistics. Another aspect is the socio-productive inclusion of waste pickers, according to articles 7 and 8 of the law, which determine the organization in recycling associations and cooperatives to integrate them in waste management. We show elements that will help researchers and scholars to subsidize their investigations, in relation to the advances and setbacks, regarding the precepts of the law, in order to point out what has been accomplished by the sectors and subjects involved in the integrated solid waste management process in the country. |
