Popis: Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is a complicated disease in terms of diagnosis and treatment and carries a high mortality. Most of the treatment principles are based on data from pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). In this chapter, we examine the current state of treatment across the globe and future treatments in the pipeline. We review the history of anti-TB therapy and the pharmacological rationale for regimens recommended for both drug-susceptible and drug-resistant TB and TBM. Newer medications, adjunctive therapies, and the management of TBM in special populations such as children, pregnant women, and HIV-positive patients are discussed. We conclude by examining the presentation and management of complications of TBM, including drug-induced liver injury.
