Popis: Averaging of solutions of the Dirichlet and Neumann problems is used to eliminate primary open boundary reflections for the simulation of the November 29, 1975 island of Hawaii tsunami. Effects due to the presence of the open boundary are then delayed resulting in an increase in the useful time history of the transient long wave model. The technique is found to be quite appropriate for the modelling of such a phenomenon from both a numerical and a cost effect standpoint.
